Amazon Heart Trust UK was established in 2006 to promote the physical and mental health of women diagnosed with breast cancer through:
- the establishment of a programme of peer support events providing positive experiences for participating women and increasing public awareness of breast cancer especially amongst young women;
- the development of other peer support structures, including participation in the creation of a global peer support network allowing women to make connections and gain support and understanding from others in similar circumstances;
- making grants and donations to charitable organisations and voluntary groups that: provide financial assistance, support (especially peer support opportunities), education, practical advice, treatment or care to women diagnosed with breast cancer; or advance the education of the public and the medical and caring professions in issues concerning breast cancer, especially as it affects young women.

The Trust is run for and by women living with breast cancer. It springs from the international network that is Amazon Heart and, although separate in constitution and operation from the American and Australian organisations, works within and supports Amazon Heart’s key values:
Community - is the most powerful agent of social change. The impact of one multiplied by many makes all things possible. Communities empower individuals to change their own lives for the better, and to reach their full potential by engaging with and supporting others.
Empowerment - gives people access to the skills and resources necessary to achieve their dreams. We encourage and inspire people to address their individual concerns and move towards making a difference for others.
Social Impact - is our reason for existing. We address unmet social needs and provide the catalyst for sustainable, systemic change by empowering others.
Living Life Fully - by following our passions at work and in life. Life is not a rehearsal. We advocate making the most of every day and finding balance, joy and fun in all we do.
Humanism - is treating everyone with respect and honouring the individual gifts they bring to the world. We believe in diversity, equity, unity and inclusion.
The Trust was established in response to these values to empower UK participants of Amazon Heart events; giving them greater control over the development of a peer support programme in the UK allowing it to better reflect and respond to the particular needs of women in the UK; and permitting greater input into the areas participants' fundraising will assist, allowing such funds to be better directed at needs currently unmet by major UK charities. |

The trust promotes and supports peer support adventures, both in the UK and abroad see www.amazonheart.org . These unique adventures provide a life affirming experience for the women who undertake them, and are powerful advocates - providing inspiration for other women living with breast cancer.
The Trust also offers grants on an annual basis to likeminded organisations assisting UK women and often works in partnership with UK charities to raise the profile and share the benefits of our peer support programme. Partner charities have included IBC UK, the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity and Breast Cancer Care. |
